27th August 2023 (sunny and mild)
Awake at 6.46am after the best sleep we've had here.
I found that one window in the bedroom wasn't shut properly, so once I closed it fully, it would have cut some of the noise out.
Either that, or we were knackered from yesterday's walk.
Tele on straight away as World Championship Marathon on.
Made Ju a cuppa, but she was still sleeping.
I love the marathon.
Such a tactical race.
There's always one favourite, but on the day, probably five or six of the top twenty runners could surprise.
Seeing the subtle changes in pace or the overtaking manoevres, which at the right moment can totally demoralize a fellow competitor, to the extent that they lose ground quickly.
Julia joined me and half way through we took a load of washing down to the laundry, along with the extra cardboard from the bike boxes and some rubbish we were throwing out.
Marathon over, expected result, but good race, we took washing and put in the dryer, which we were rapt to be able to use for free. Consequently we have made good use of both machines.
Ate our usual breakfast and coffee to finish whilst we waited on washing to dry.
Been doing some strength work since we've been in the hotel as we've had the time and you can feel the difference after not doing anything other than stretches for the trip.
Legs of course have had a great workout.
Outside, the sun was out for a second time in as many days, so it was time to get out for a walk.
Decided to check out the " Fun Pub" which screens football games.
Liverpool are on tonight, so we're hoping that's the game they will be screening at the pub. Unfortunately they don't open until 6pm and the game starts at 5.30pm.
Back at the hotel we pulled the washing out of the dryer and folded it.
Have got our gear set aside to fly in, so not too much to do now.
Had some lunch and about 1.30pm with the sun blazing...well hot... well warming, we took another wander around the harbour and Central city area of Tromso, looking for more images.
We've become quite fond of this city of 78,000 people.
It has a vibrancy about it.
It's a university town, so plenty of younger people, but a good attitude with it.
I told Pete to turn around so you could see his lily white ass Shaz, but he wanted to show off his bronzed body.
Speaking of old things, there are lots of pockets of old buildings in this city.
The marina is in the heart of the city.
A new apartment and shopping complex called Vervet.
It has several blocks fully completed and occupied but they are currently constructing a whole new section closer to the bridge.
Nice waterside views
Each block a different colour and texture.
It was Sunday
The water clean and clear as usual.
Still a bit of mist hanging round the mountains.
The Vervet Apartments
Some interesting cruises were on offer.
Some mosaic art.
Had a lovely time and got some great memories, all in the sunshine.
Spent time in the apartment during the afternoon.
Watched a program on artic foxes and lemmings which was good, before wandering five minutes down the road to watch a ten man Liverpool beat Newcastle.
Get in.........!!
Great game to watch in a pub which only had seven people in it, including Julia and I.
Back to the hotel to watch the Athletics World Champs, including the 5000 metres.
Great night viewing including a doco on Mo Farah. Very good.
At 10.30pm, with clear skies, we went for a walk around town.
Bit different now that the festival has finished, with only a few people out and about.
Looking for the aurora under a clear sky, but with the mist slowly moving in up the fjord, no luck.
Got some great shots of the city lights and made our way back to the hotel for 11.15pm.

Thanks for the great blog and photos. Best wishes for the trip back home!
