Overcast again this morning. Woke 5.45am then snuggled down again til 7.30am. Å is on the cards for this morning, then we'll  reassess the weather etc at lunchtime. Breakfast on our deck overlooking the camp. It was rather fresh this morning with an expected high today of 16C. There is a couple staying here at present who have come in their late model coach. That's right...would have to be a 12 metre converted coach. Still, even with all that money, it doesn't stop idiots in a car and caravan from trying to get past you, without sufficient room. Resulting in the caravan hitting the bus's wing mirror and people screaming for the car driver who was oblivious, to stop. Anyway they got it sorted and I doubt the coach owner will be bothered as insurance will cover it. Today we were off further south (can't go too far as the road runs out) to see a couple of small fishing villages and do a hike.  Our thighs and calves have been sore since our climb the other day...

5.36am. Woke to a lovely morning, with a heavy dew.   Not sure what we'll do yet today, but probably move further north.   Both had good sleeps after our sleep deprived day, but even that was worth the eventual outcome. Moskenes campground.  That's Vango on the little hill. The coastline round the camp. It's hard to describe the amount of camper vans on the road in Norway.   We think New Zealand has a lot, but it's on a whole new level here.   So what you end up with,  are a lot of older drivers getting behind the wheel of these mobile houses, some of whom, shouldn't even be driving, full stop.   Suddenly, they are in charge of guiding a 10 or 12 metre vehicle through narrow streets.  We have witnessed a number of mishaps.  Today we saw a big shiny new bus, being used as a camper, have it's big wing mirror torn off by a caravan trying to manoeuvre past it. Julia had a great sleep and woke two hours after me, at 7.30...

28th July 2023 (sunny and warm, intermittent fog) 20km

Last night I was curious to see just how many others had chosen the 10.30pm ferry and was surprised when we saw the queues as we arrived at the ferry terminal.  I was equally surprised when the ferry docked about 10.10pm and watched all the cars drive off.  I thought they'd finished, then they start driving up from the basement of the ship.  We also had so many going over to Lofoten that many vehicles had to go into the basement. We just hoped they didn't have the same idea as us to go climb Reinebringen at 3am. It had gone quite cold with the fog that rolled in as we waited, so Pete and I had layered up.  We also took a bag each upstairs with extra layers, and we're very glad we did.  Even though the ferry was chocka, it was quite cool and we needed those extra layers.  We were lucky we were on first and nabbed a booth area where we could both lay down, which we did for all but the last half hour of the journey. I managed 3 hours of good quality sl...
